Why Natural Enrichment Works So Well for Dogs

1 min read

A log, a stump, long grass or a pile of interesting smells may not look like expensive enrichment equipment. Your dog has not read the catalogue.

Natural features encourage dogs to sniff, climb, investigate, balance and make their own choices. The value is often in the variety rather than in one prescribed activity.

We use natural elements around Canine Collective because they change with weather, smells and the dogs using them. That keeps the environment interesting without everything needing flashing lights and a battery.

As always, natural doesn't automatically mean safe — materials and spaces still need to be checked and managed.

But sometimes the best dog playground really is a good stick, a weird smell and somewhere interesting to put your feet.
